Aristocratic Purple Smoke Tree, a deciduous shrub or small tree. The crown is irregularly rounded. When mature, the height and width of the plant are mostly around 3 to 4.5 meters (approximately 12 to 15 feet). It has a compact shape, making it suitable for solitary planting in courtyards or for ornamental purposes. The new leaves are purple; summer leaves maintain a deep purple color; autumn leaves turn red or orange. In some varieties, flower branches may produce purple or purplish-pink feathery down in summer, which looks like smoke or mist from a distance.
